By sea

By ferry: Salerno’s two piers

Piazza della Concordia

The pier for Amalfi Coast ferries (Travelmar and others): Amalfi, Minori, Maiori, Cetara and, in season, Positano. About 10 minutes on foot from the train station.

Molo Manfredi

Next to the Maritime Terminal: boats to Capri and the Bay of Naples also leave from here, mainly from spring to autumn.

In winter there are far fewer sailings, and they can be cancelled in rough seas. Times and fares change: always check and buy on the operator’s website the day before.

By land

By bus or car

SITA bus

Salerno–Amalfi along the coast, stopping at Vietri, Cetara, Erchie, Maiori, Minori and Atrani. About 75 minutes, one bus every 30–60 minutes. Unico Campania tickets at newsagents and tobacconists, day tickets too.

By car

The Amalfi Coast road is beautiful but narrow: in summer and at weekends traffic is slow and parking is expensive. From April to October the ferry is the better choice; in winter a car is easier.

Route in Maps ↗

From Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport

The Salerno Airlink bus connects the airport to Salerno station in about 40 minutes; tickets can also be bought on board. From the station it’s a 10-minute walk to the pier.

Arriving in Salerno by car

Parcheggio Libertà (600 spaces) is next to Molo Manfredi and a few minutes from Concordia: leave the car and take the ferry.

Tips from locals

For a smooth day out

  • Take the first ferry of the morning and come back in the afternoon: in summer the last ones fill up.
  • Ferry one way, bus the other and you see the coast from the sea and from the road.
  • Rough sea? Sailings may be cancelled: keep the SITA bus as plan B.
  • Staying in Salerno costs less than on the coast and is half an hour by sea from Amalfi.
